Mom's Kitchen!

My name is Jose Tapia. I already have a Facebook, so I'm gonna see what I can use Tumblr for. Normally I'll be spewing heavy thoughts that come to mind. I'm treating this as a kind of scrapbook to document revelations or emotions that I do not want to forget, since I know the brain is very imperfect. Everything has once before started with an idea, and it is that that is important.

A mother's kitchen is one of the safest places you can be. There, you can receive nourishment. You thank someone for the food you've eaten. You can drink clean water. You can be hugged after having been gone a long time. You can be kissed by the women who love you. You can have a heart-to-heart conversation. You can speak without being judged. You can feel approval from your father. You can learn a life-changing lesson. You can remember the way your life once was. You can imagine what is going on in the brain of the head inches in front of you at that very moment. You can set important plans. You can decide important decisions. You can talk about the cat, or the game, or the car, or the news. You can feel connected with the world. You can feel protected from the world.

And you can be loved.

If dogs teach humans anything, they teach them about personality and what it means to be human. Our dog Beethoven taught me to be strong-willed, protective, and persistent. Smokey taught me to be gentle-natured, loving, and to be a humble friend. Today we said goodbye again… we’ll miss you Smokey.
